The first Tehran-Sardasht rally for peace is held
The first Tehran-Sardasht car rally for peace of was held in Tehran-Sardasht route on 28 and 29 July 2017 on the occasion of 30th anniversary of chemical bombardment of Sardasht city and also 20th anniversary of Chemical Weapons Convention coming into force. The rally included 40 automobiles and 150 members of TPM particularly chemical warfare victims and their families.
Cooperation Between Society for Chemical Weapons Victims Support (SCWVS) and Tehran Peace Museum (TPM) and contribution of Touring and Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs and Organization for Defense the Rights of Sardasht Chemical Weapons Victims lead to the car rally event which started on Wednesday morning 28th of July from Pardisan Park in Tehran and continued in Tehran-Saveh-Hamedan route. The first day of rally finished after participants' visited Hamedan Holy Defense Museum.
Afterwards on Thursday 9 a.m, they pursued the route on Sanandaj-Saghez-Baneh and Sardasht. Thereafter, by paying homage to Sardasht chemical weapons victims, the participants finished rally in Sardasht memorial cemetery.
During this two-days rally which was much welcomed by warfare victims, TPM also hosted six representatives of MOCT non-profitable organization of Hiroshima who expressed the sympathy message of Hiroshima citizens to the victims of chemical weapons in this city. MOCT had previously visited Sardasht in 2005 during which a street was named after Hiroshima.
A briefing meeting was also held by Touring and Automobile Club to educate the drivers and map-readers about the driving laws to be observed. They as well answered the participants' questions.
