"Weapons of Mass Destruction; World's Common Distress" at Tehran Peace Museum
On Tuesday 25 May 2016, Tehran Peace Museum organized an event named "Weapons of mass destruction; world's common distress" in collaboration with Iranian affiliate of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) (PSR-Iran). The participants including youths and medical students discussed the issue of weapons of mass destruction and a world free of their harms.
Dr. Mahmoud Babai, well-known ophthalmologists and a member of the Physicians Committee of Chemical Weapons Victims, Dr. Esfandiar, delegate from International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), Dr. Ehsan Modirian from Janbazan Medical and Engineering Research Center (JMERC) and Dr. Abdolahifar, a delegate from Iranian Red Crescent Society and one of IPPNW affiliates were the guest speakers of this event. The resemblance between the effects of chemical weapons and nuclear weapons on human's health was among the topics discussed by the specialists during this event.
The event was continued by Dr. Leila Moein, Iran’s Physicians for Social Responsibility’s (PSR) representative and former Iran's PSR student representative, explaining the forgoing events of the group. Thereupon, Ms. Ghazal Parsa, a member of Iran's PSR student's group, gave a lecture, introducing the future plans of this group. Holding Hibakusha Worldwide Exhibition on the occasion of Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is among them.
