On the occasion of “National day for commemoration of victims of Chemical Weapons” and the anniversary of “Saradsht” chemical attack, there will be an opportunity for all citizens / Journalists to meet with survivors of chemical warfare and listen to their eye witness accounts.

On Saturday 29 June2013, at Tehran Peace Museum several CW victims - most of them are volunteer guides of the museum – will host visitors to share their experience with them and to raise awareness about the consequences of Chemical Weapons.

Those who are interested to meet with them and listen to their eye witness accounts are invited to join us on 29 June from 9 am to 4 pm.

on the sideline of the event there will be a ceremony to commemorate those who lost their lives due to chemical weapons attacks during Iran-Iraq war.

Mr. Cees J. Kole, Ambassador of the Netherlands, together with the First Secretary, Mr. John van der Zende, visited the TPM on 19 June 2013.

Following his visit and during a meeting with museum's staff and volunteers, Ambassador Kole mentioned that: Tehran Peace Museum is more than a museum; it is an educational center to promote culture of peace.

During the meeting, chemical warfare survivors, who volunteer for TPM, expressed their wish for world peace and talked about their relationship with the organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons -OPCW- in the Netherlands, and thanked the Dutch government as the first country to conducted Trial for the companies and individuals who helped Sadam's regime in producing and usage of chemical weapons.

A sister-ship agreement between Tehran Peace Museum and Halabja Monument/ Museum was signed in Tehran on Monday 10 June 2013.

Tehran Peace Museum (located in Tehran, Iran) and Halabja Monument Museum (located in Halabja, Iraqi Kurdistan) are the only museums in the world to address the chemical warfare and its consequences and have guides who are survivors of chemical warfare.

According to this agreement, the two museums will share experiences, have joint cultural- artistic or research projects, exchange experts and will cooperate on recording the chemical weapons victims testimonies as the oral history.

One of the main goals of both museums is to promote culture of peace through raising awareness about the consequences of war and to prevent repeat of such disasters.
